Kōbe, Japan Year-In-Japan Program

 

The Year-In-Japan Program is located in Kōbe, Japan.  The program runs for an entire academic year, beginning in early September and ending in May of the following year. Students live with Japanese families in the Kobe/Osaka area and attend UHM-accredited classes at the Konan International Exchange Center (KIEC), on the campus of Kōnan University. The program also offers field trips to other areas of Japan and varied cultural activities during the year.

A completed “Year-In-Japan” application, $30 application fee, three letters of recommendation, and official transcripts from each college attended must be received by the Study Abroad Center by March 1 to receive consideration.

Non-University of Hawaii applicants please note: Completed applications will be forwarded to the University of Illinois by the UHM Study Abroad Center.

Immediately upon acceptance to the program, students are required to pay an initial payment that is non-refundable of $500.00 to ensure a place in the program. This initial payment will be applied toward the cost of the program.
