The Year-In-Japan Program is located in Kobe, Japan.  The program runs for an entire academic year, beginning in early September and ending in May of the following year. Students live with Japanese families in the Kobe/Osaka area and attend UHM-accredited classes at the Konan International Exchange Center (KIEC), on the campus of Konan University. The program also offers field trips to other areas of Japan and varied cultural activities during the year.

A completed "Year-In-Japan" application, two letters of recommendation, and official transcripts from each college attended must be received by the Study Abroad Center by March 1 to receive consideration.
