The intensive summer Japanese language program in Kobe, Japan was established in 1997 and focuses on Japanese language study at the INTERMEDIATE LEVEL ONLY. Students complete their second-year foreign language requirement and have the opportunity to immerse themselves in Japanese language and culture. The period of study for 2008 is from June 7 through July 20.

The UHM Faculty Resident Director for Summer 2008 is John Haig from East Asian Languages and Literatures.

A completed UHM Study Abroad Center summer application, $20 application fee, and two letters of recommendation must be received by the Study Abroad Center by February 17 in order to receive consideration.  Non-UHM students must also submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
