The
Italian Study Abroad Program is based at the Centro
Linguistico Italiano Dante Alighieri
in Florence, which specializes in teaching Italian
language and culture to foreigners. The center was
founded in 1966 with the authorization of the Italian
Ministry of Education and operates out of two buildings.
One is a 15th century palazzo in the center
of the city at the Piazza della Repubblica,
and the other is near the Ponte Vecchio on
the other side of the Arno River.
PROGRAM
COORDINATION
The UHM Study Abroad program has a designated UHM
Resident Director when appropriate. Classroom facilities,
in-country
language instruction, excursions, accommodations,
student counseling
and tutoring are provided by the host institution.
All courses are
taught at Dante Alighieri by faculty who hold appropriate
teaching
credentials who hold appropriate teaching credentials.
