University of South Australia
has
a population of 10,000 students (600 are international
students, representing 50 countries). Flinders offers
graduate and undergraduate degrees in Applied Sciences,
Accounting, Arts, Biotechnology, Commerce, Developmental
Disabilities, Economics, Education, Engineering, Environmental
Health, Ethnic Studies, Law, Liberal Studies, Medicine,
Nursing, Science, Speech Pathology, Teaching and Theology.
A
wide range of academic support and student services
is available to meet the special needs of overseas
students, such as tutoring assistance, health and
counseling services, and legal aid. Flinders' library
houses over 700,000 volumes on areas related to teaching
and research requirements of the students and faculty.
Students have access to computers, printers, internet, and copying machines.
The
Student Union building houses an art gallery, restaurants,
employment service, laundromat, music listening room,
bookstore, bank, post office, sport facilities and
club societies. The University grounds include excellent
playing fields, a swimming pool, a sundry store, and
a student travel office. Concerts, dance and theater
performances, exhibitions and speakers, as well as
the Orientation Ball are hosted by the Student Union.
Over 50 clubs and special interest groups ranging
from athletics to social interest are represented.
The Sport Center caters to indoor sports, aerobics
classes and houses a weight training room.
PROGRAM
COORDINATION
Students enroll in Flinders University courses that
are taught by faculty who hold appropriate teaching
credentials. Flinders' teaching staff are highly regarded
and consistently attract the very highest funding
to continue their research work. The UHM study abroad
program is hosted by the Australian Studies Programme
at Flinders. The Overseas Student Advisor, also known
at the "Study Abroad Advisor", advises and
assists short term, non-degree study abroad students
attending Flinders. Special programs and activities
are offered, which enable study abroad students to
integrate into the cultural, social and academic life
at Flinders University.
