Student participants will take two courses on the program, both taught in English, earning a total of six credits. One of these courses is IP 273D (Polynesian Life and Culture in French Polynesia), taught by an on-site instructor. The other course is dependent on the Faculty Resident Director's area of expertise and relates to French Polynesia.
IP 273D: Polynesian Life & Culture in French Polynesia
This course will introduce students to the Polynesian way of life, past and present, be examining Tahitian language and culture through history and traditions. In addition to lectures and discussions, students will interact with guest speakers from different island groups and participate in excursions. Upon completion of the course, students will have a better understanding of the rich cultural diversity within Polynesia today.
Course taken in French Polynesia will appear on UHM transcripts at UHM credits.
