Want to relive your UHM Study Abroad experience and be a part of the "behind the scenes" action? Apply for an internship at the Study Abroad Center! Work 150 hours over the semester and earn three credit hours in various disciplines!
Duties include: Classroom presentations, recruitment, marketing, answering telephones, helping walk-ins, running errands, helping at bi-annual Study Abroad Fairs, and making posters, banners and other marketing materials.
Deadline: You must coordinate the internship with the UHM Study Abroad Center prior to the start of the semester you wish to receive credits for.

1) Who may apply for a Study Abroad Internship?
Current UH Manoa students who have participated in a UH Manoa Study Abroad Center program are eligible to apply for an internship.
2) Do Study Abroad Interns receive monetary compensation?
No, Study Abroad Interns do not receive monetary compensation. Instead, they receive three credits by working 150 hours over the course of a semester.
3) What kinds of credits do Study Abroad Interns receive for a Study
Abroad Internship?
The College of Business and the Departments of English and Communication
offer three credits for Business 395 or 695, English 495, or Communication
495, respectively.
It is also possible to receive three credits in other areas. For example, Study Abroad Interns have been able to work out study abroad internship credits with the Department of Sociology and the Department of Languages and Literatures of Europe and the Americas (LLEA).
4) What are the duties and responsibilities of the Study Abroad Interns?
Some of the tasks and responsibilities include recruitment of students, five-minute classroom presentations, mass-mail marketing projects, helping with Study Abroad Fairs, designing and working on advertisements for Study Abroad Center bulletin boards, and office-related duties like running errands on campus, photocopying, answering telephones, handling walk-in inquiries, e-mail, and etc.

you must contact and work with a faculty member in the relevant college or department who will then approve your request.
After you have spoken with the particular department/college relevant to
your program, let us know and then register for the internship course
