The
study abroad program in Machida, Japan was established in 2004, and
is offered for an academic year or for the Spring Semester. Students
have the opportunity to study Japanese language and Japanese content couses (in English) in areas such as politics, economics, education, management, history, literature, art, and intercultural communication. On site, the program is coordinated by J.F. Oberlin University, located in the Tokyo area. The period of study for the academic year is mid-September through late July, and the spring term runs from mid-April through late July.
A completed UHM Study Abroad Center semester application, $20 application fee, and three letters of recommendation must be received by the Study Abroad Center by the following dates in order to receive consideration. Non-UHM students must also submit official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
